PARRY QUICKLY HITS BACK

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has quickly hit back at Tom Hicks' claims that his tenure at Anfield has been "a disaster".

Reds co-owner Hicks, who revealed that Parry had taken part in the meeting with Jurgen Klinsmann that undermined current boss Rafa Benitez, blamed him for Liverpool's failure to compete commercially with their Premier League rivals in a Sky Sports News interview.

"Look at what's happened under Rick. It has been a disaster," claimed Hicks.

"We have fallen so far behind the other leading clubs.

"We should have the stadium built by now. We have a few major sponsors when we should have 15.

"Rick needs to resign from Liverpool FC. He has put his heart into it but it is time for a change. "

But Parry told Radio Four's Today programme: "It's for the board to ask me to resign and they haven't. I'm accountable to the board and this is not something the board has discussed with me.

"I have a duty at the moment to try and keep things on an even keel when there's turmoil off the pitch. I just want to do my best for the club.

"I'm focusing on the day to day. We have a Champions League semi-final coming up. There are a lot of important things to be done at the club and that's the focus.''

Parry again expressed his disappointment that the club's "dirty linen'' was being washed in public, adding: "There's a Liverpool way, which I think I understand and will stick to, and there is clearly a different way.''

"F*CK W*NK B*LLOX!!!! Thats all it is! If Parry was doing his job right why did he assist these men in buying "our club" Liverpool FC? He set up the deal with that yank cowboy moneyman! His own bad work & judgement is ultimately gonna be his downfall. Ah....Irony!!!"

"I am a Utd fan and still want the Glaziers out. All this "They have supported Fergie etc etc.." We are crippled with Debt (How will the credit crunch effect us?), Ticket prices haven risen way above inflation over the last 3 years and who knows what they will decide when £100 million offer comes in for Ronaldo. As much as it pains me, I feel for Liverpool. In such a sensitive week for the club, Fanny Lee look alike Hicks, washes his dirty linen in public. SOCCERBALL is becoming a joke "

Colly22

"All hicks and co care about is money, not the tradition of liverpool club and how it was built , not thw winning merseyside derbys , not beating rivals like United, all they want is money and will manipulate your club as long as they can. So the players were not affected they responded to the fans cry on the pitch and showed what the players think is important, so be grateful for they have achieved under the circumstances. And I am a United fan.You need to cop on Samz. "

Colly22

"Samz... they are in their usual 4th spot of the leauge, secured for champions leauge next season, they are in the semi final of the champions leauge you would be contradicting all the pool fans to say that its not any sort of achievment to get where they are at with all the crap surrounding the players and their club! All the pool fans are singing the praises of Gerrard and Torres etc for getting to yet another champions leauge semi, so your saying it has affected them , jesus id love to see what they could do if their club was in good hands! "

samZ

"what do you mean they hav'nt let it affect them on the field? of course they have sure for the space of 2 - 3 months they made that exact excuse! they were playing rubbish even with the rotation in mind and were just looking an easy way out of admitting they were not good enough"

Colly22

"Hats off to the players at the club who in all this shambles have reached a champions leauge semi final, they have not let it affect the game on the field.Well done to the players!I am a United fan but give credit where its due! someone in the club needs to take your situation by the balls and get it sorted. Colm (hopefully the other merseysiders win tonight)!! "

nedtheshed

"All this makes me laugh.Im a Man U fan and can remember EVERY Pool fan I know making the comments "Manchester Buchanners" and sending around photoshopped emails of players kickin American footballs. And look where we are now. The Glazers did nothing but support the club and Fergie and the results are obvious. As for people calling for DIC to take over, whos to say they will be any better? 18 months ago most of the Pool fans had this Holier than Thou attitude of "our club will never be sold" and blah, blah, blah. Now they want the club to change hands again. Oh the irony is just delicious."

good2bagooner

"Anyone else thinking those yanks are Man Utd/Everton fans!! As a gooner, i'm just glad we fcuked David Dein off as we'd be in the same sh*t now..."

SpudNick

"Well said Brucemole! I just hope DIC havent lost interest."

Mutid

"What do you have to say, Nelson? HA-HA!"
