The seventh-richest man in the world has denied expressing an interest in buying a controlling interest in Liverpool, according to reports.
The Times reported on Tuesday morning that 'Mukesh Ambani, the wealthiest man in India, is one of two tycoons from the sub-continent competing to buy a stake in the Merseyside club.
'The Sahara Group's chairman, Subrata Roy, and Ambani's Reliance Industries have each tendered similar bids to pay off Liverpool's £237 million debt in return for a 51 per cent stake in the club.'
However, according to Sky Sports News, Mukesh has insisted that there is no truth to the report.

"Going off the info the Indian lads at the top and what ive heard in the news and on the internet, it would be great if this guy did come in and he seems to have more money than he knows what to do with, but it seems a pipe dream, as every other offer that has come close, Hicks is scaring everyone away with his valuation, but SKY Sports news seems to be camped outside Anfield every day waiting for something so fingures crossed lads????"

"well, I am from India too, and as per what I know, Mukesh Ambani is one smart man. And a proper businessman if nothing else. Owning an IPL team (and he indeed owns Mumbai Indians, the costliest of them all - with Sachin, Jayasuriya, Duminy etc) makes sense because most of the ad revenue goes directly to the owners, plus the reliance guys pride themselves on their clout with the who's who of India... and owning the biggest IPL team is a major positive in that regard. What does owning Liverpool give him? Nothing. Mukesh Ambani isn't a football buff like Abramovich, so the club will not be a millionaire's plaything. And thus, owning a football club does not make financial sense to him at all.
Unfounded rumour, IMHO. False."

"sangoman, he owns one of the most expensive IPL team and he has all the money to buy an English Team. Being a Liverpool fan, I would like to see that happen. "

"Magicrhodes, I stand corrected (must try harder), lets face it though me and you are probably richer than Gillett and Hicks at the minute, do they actually have a preverbial pot to pi*s in?"

"..erm Darraghmac, how do you work out that gaining a 51% stake would leave Hicks & Gillette holding a majority?"
